The use of modular building systems has been trumpeted as the solution to green building. But has anyone quantified how this system works within the LEED rating system? Turns out, Bob Kobet authored a white paper on this subject for the Modular Building Institute, which recently published it. The modular building system has an advantage over site building in seven key areas, including less material waste, less material exposure to weather, less disturbance to the neighborhood, safer construction, flexibility in recycling buildings, adaptability and built to code with much shorter construction schedules.
