At the Custom Builders Symposium a few years ago, I had the luck of hearing a presentation about green building by Peter Pfeiffer of Barley & Pfeiffer Architects. Peter is one of the Grand Daddies (of the concept) working on it since the 1970s. From the moment I understood these strait forward principles, I was hooked!
There has been much said about the topic as it relates to builders, plus the media has embraced this as the answer to both global warming and rising fuel costs. However, there is a general lack of good solid information for consumers; and why they should consider this type of home. Of course, I think that building systems have a very unique opportunity. As some have said; it is our opportunity to loose!
How does green building relate to your business and where are consumers going to look for information? Growth is driven by the consumer. The more consumers demanding it; the more builders will adopt it. The world is our oyster, what should we do as an industry to embrace green building and how do we communicate this to customers? I welcome your comments!

Had a great conversation with Michelle Roberts (a leading expert on green building and systems built)about green building! She said the target is female home buyers, architects and real estate professionals. The challenge is how do we reach these people with our message that to go green you should go systems built? Ideas, thoughts and comments- or questions would be much appreciated!!
