Building Systems: Construction Reinvented

Construction Reinvented.

Didn't see any discussions about this topic.
I realize it is a sensetive subject, but I'm very curious of what happens following closeouts. Where people end up going/doing, what happens with plant, equipment etc? I would be interested in hearing about especially firsthand experiences.

I have been in modular construction for many years both as a builder and as a manufacturers outside representative. I was recently laid off from Penn Lyon Homes even though my territory was doing well. I don't see this economy turning around anytime soon. Some call it downsizing, I call it the end of line. I am reading the writting on the wall and looking for opportunities outside of the building industry.

As far as plant closings go, the downturn is going to be long term. The owners are dropping liabilities as fast as they can. The properties are most likely going to be sold and the equipment auctioned.
I've been in an auto parts distributor, sadly the economic downturn sent me off the job. In short, I was laid off. Actually, the entire office was closed. When I heard of what happened to General Motors, I'm expecting this industry is going way down still. And just as what Steve mentioned, the equipments were sold. As for me, a window from another industry opened. I don't know if you guys feel the same impact as well.

Life Doesn't close here.
Yah, rojan can be correct that equipments were maybe sold. Well anyway, this case of closeouts, the manager of a certain company or factories already insures there remaining stuff to be sold. Some of this equipments that totally still can operate can be sold out to the other facilities or maybe it transfer to somewhere it can be needed and useful. I agree with faseeh uddin that life doesn't close here or end here. For the place to be left alone can be renovated or to have a construction operation for a new building. Thanks!
